UF Assistant Professor Named SEICHE Center Affiliate Faculty Member

Dr. Lola OladeruThe SEICHE Center for Health and Justice, an academic collaboration between the Yale School of Medicine and Yale Law School, has chosen UF Radiation Oncology Assistant Professor Oluwadamilola T. Oladeru (Lola), MD, MA, MBA (right) as an affiliate faculty member, effective October 4.

The mission of the SEICHE Center is to advance health and wellbeing for those impacted by mass incarceration. Named after a seiche wave, or an oscillating wave that erupts from stagnant water, the Center works to bring significant changes to systems “built upon and maintained by racism and other forms of oppression” through clinical care, research, education, and legal scholarship and advocacy.

As an affiliate faculty member, Dr. Oladeru’s research on incarceration and cancer mortality will contribute significantly to a global understanding of health inequities and represent the Center’s mission worldwide. SEICHE affiliate faculty members also act as resources to students – particularly minority and underrepresented learners – through mentorship and collaboration.
