We are excited to welcome our 2027 Keynote Speaker Jeff M. Michalski, MD, MBA, FACR, FASTRO, Carlos A. Perez Distinguished Professor and Director of Radiation Oncology Theranostics at WashU Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology, St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Michalski is an internationally recognized leader in cancer care, clinical research, and multidisciplinary collaboration. He serves as Chair of the Radiation Oncology Committee for NRG Oncology and Co-Chair of the National Cancer Institute’s Genitourinary Cancers Steering Committee, helping shape national research priorities and clinical trials that improve cancer treatment and patient outcomes. He also serves on the bladder cancer panel for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), where he contributes to the development of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines used by healthcare professionals worldwide.

At Siteman Cancer Center, as Medical Director of the Clinical Trials Core, Dr. Michalski leads efforts to expand access to innovative cancer therapies through clinical research. He is a distinguished member of the ASTRO Board of Directors, helping guide the future of radiation oncology.

Dr. Michalski’s research focuses on advancing precision cancer treatment while improving patients’ quality of life. His work includes optimizing radiation therapy for prostate cancer, reducing long-term cognitive side effects in children treated for medulloblastoma, and studying survivorship and quality-of-life outcomes for both adult and pediatric cancer survivors.

This year’s event will again feature two concurrent programs: a Physician Scientist Session and the Radiation Therapists’ and Oncology Nursing Seminar.

Presentations by UF faculty, staff, residents, and other health professionals will address the treatment of a variety of cancers as well as clinical research outcomes, with several reflecting this year’s genitourinary cancers focus. Breakfast and lunch for all attendees will be included. Our alumni, professionals in private practice, and faculty and residents from other educational institutions are expected to attend.

Back by popular demand, the 2027 event will feature a special multidisciplinary panel presentation for all attendees focusing on genitourinary cancer treatment that will stimulate new ideas and challenge old ones for the audience. Doctors from the urology, radiation oncology and medical oncology teams will participate – more information coming soon!

Our annual Research Seminar is an important venue that allows participants to define optimal treatment approaches, produce the best plans, employ first-rate techniques, provide healing experiences for our patients, assess outcomes, and develop new treatment approaches, providing invaluable information to faculty and residents from several educational institutions as well as professionals in private practice.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Recognize and interpret the success radiation oncologists are experiencing with definitive and adjuvant radiation therapy techniques.
• Describe techniques and results of treatment of genitourinary cancers, head and neck cancers, pediatric cancers, lung cancer, breast cancer, and other tumors at the University of Florida Department of Radiation Oncology and the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute.
• Explain treatment methods to manage treatment side effects and reduce the occurrence of treatment complications.

Accreditation: The University of Florida College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
