Selection Process, Criteria, and Awards

Our Physician Scientist Session on March 6, 2026 will offer approximately six 20-minute speaking opportunities in the morning and in the afternoon (12 total). Please note: Only invited speakers will be contacted after abstract submission and review.

Interested speakers must submit an abstract (500 words or less) by November 1, 2025, outlining their presentation. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit draft presentations for judging no later than November 14, 2025. Final accepted presentations must be submitted by February 1, 2026. Presentations will be selected by Dr. Curtis Bryant and reviewed by our Research Seminar Committee leadership. A $2,500 travel/research publications credit will be awarded to one selected Physician or Scientist presentation. A $2,000 travel/research publications credit will be awarded to one selected Resident or Fellow presentation. Breast cancer-related topics are preferred, but not mandatory. Other topics may include multidisciplinary cancer research projects, multidisciplinary perspectives in cancer care, innovative clinical programs or educational initiatives, quality and safety, and new technologies.

Abstract Guidelines
  • One submission per speaker only.
  • Do not provide figures, graphs, or tables within the uploaded abstract document file; 1-2 figures/tables may be uploaded separately.
  • Max word count ≤500 (title not included).
  • Title should not exceed 100 characters + spaces combined.
  • Please include topic/area of interest.
  • Must be formatted and organized, as much as possible, into four sections identified by the following headers: Purpose/Objectives, Materials/Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Important Deadline Information
  • Deadline to submit your abstract is Saturday, November 1, 2025.
  • Abstracts will be reviewed and selected by Dr. Curtis Bryant and shared with our Research Seminar Committee Leadership.
  • Upon abstract acceptance: Draft presentations due Friday, November 14, 2025.
  • You will be notified via email regarding draft presentations no later than Friday, December 5, 2025.
  • Final presentations are due by Sunday, February 1, 2026.
  • If for some reason you are selected and unable to present at the March 6, 2026 event, you may choose a co-author/colleague to present on your behalf. Notify ewinthrop@ufl.edu of any changes to your speaker commitment as soon as possible.
