Treatment Planning and System Management

Treatment PlanningAt the University of Florida Department of Radiation Oncology, we use the state of the art Pinnacle treatment planning system (Philips Medical Systems) to plan patient treatments. This system allows us to optimize plans for 3-dimensional radiation therapy (3DCRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), conformal arc therapy, dynamic arc therapy, volumetric arc-modulated therapy (VMAT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) , stereotactic body radiosurgery (SBRT), and electron beam therapy. Current software also provides an auto-planning function to automatically minimize the radiation dose to normal tissue structures and maximize the radiation dose to the tumor.
