Resident Application

The therapeutic medical physics residency program in the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Florida on the Gainesville Campus normally expects one medical physics residency position each year to start July 1. The program participates in the Medical Physics Matching Program.

Admission requirements

Applicants to the program must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in medical physics or a closely related field with an undergraduate degree in physics or a related field with coursework equivalent to a minor in physics (including at least three upper-level undergraduate courses). Preferences will be given to graduates of a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics graduate or certificate program. Candidates for our residency program should have completed the didactic material detailed in the AAPM reports 79 and 249 prior to the clinical training, which encompasses the following graduate-level core topics:
1. Radiological Physics and Dosimetry
2. Radiation Protection and Radiation Safety
3. Fundamentals of Imaging in Medicine
4. Radiobiology
5. Anatomy and Physiology
6. Radiation Therapy Physics
