The Alan H. Porter, M.D., & Claudia B. Porter, R.N., Department of Radiation Oncology has chosen a distinguished Keynote Speaker for its 57th annual Radiation Oncology Research Seminar, slated for February 26, 2027, at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center, Gainesville.
Jeff M. Michalski, MD, MBA, FACR, FASTRO, Carlos A. Perez Distinguished Professor and Director of Radiation Oncology Theranostics at WashU Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology, St. Louis, MO., will lead the event’s plenary session for Physician Scientist program attendees as well as radiation therapists and oncology nurses.
Dr. Michalski (right) is an internationally recognized leader in cancer care, clinical research, and multidisciplinary collaboration. He serves as Chair of the Radiation Oncology Committee for NRG Oncology and Co-Chair of the National Cancer Institute’s Genitourinary Cancers Steering Committee, helping shape national research priorities and clinical trials that improve cancer treatment and patient outcomes. He also serves on the bladder cancer panel for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), where he contributes to the development of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines used by healthcare professionals worldwide.
At Siteman Cancer Center, as Medical Director of the Clinical Trials Core, Dr. Michalski leads efforts to expand access to innovative cancer therapies through clinical research. He is a distinguished member of the ASTRO Board of Directors, helping guide the future of radiation oncology.
Dr. Michalski’s research focuses on advancing precision cancer treatment while improving patients’ quality of life. His work includes optimizing radiation therapy for prostate cancer, reducing long-term cognitive side effects in children treated for medulloblastoma, and studying survivorship and quality-of-life outcomes for both adult and pediatric cancer survivors.
The 2027 event will also feature a special multidisciplinary panel presentation for all attendees focusing on genitourinary cancer treatment that will stimulate new ideas and challenge old ones for the audience. Doctors from the urology, radiation oncology and medical oncology teams will participate.
