Radiation Oncology Professor Receives 2025 Exemplary Teacher Recognition

Dr. Alexandra De LeoThe UF Department of Radiation Oncology is pleased to announce that Alex De Leo, MD, has been recognized as an Exemplary Teacher in 2025.

Dr. De Leo (right), an Assistant Professor, specializes in cancers of the brain, spine and lungs, and is assistant director of the radiation oncology physician residency program.

Faculty are selected as Exemplary Teachers based on the excellence of their teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, graduate students, and postdoctoral students, as well as their mentorship of other faculty. Eligible candidates are nominated for the Exemplary Teacher Award by each department and participate in a college-wide competition to receive an incentive. Only 10% achieve this distinction.

Each exemplary teacher will receive a lapel pin each year they are recognized as an exemplary teacher. First-time exemplary teachers will receive a plaque and, upon every milestone year (fifth, tenth, etc.), they will receive a commemorative award from the Office of Educational Affairs.
