Paul Okunieff, MD, Professor and Chair of the UF Department of Radiation Oncology, is pleased to announce the promotion of two talented UF Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI) faculty members, effective July 1, 2024.
Julie A. Bradley, MD, MHCDS (right) has been promoted to the rank of full Professor with tenure.
Dr. Bradley‘s promotion was based on her excellence in patient care, research, and teaching at UFHPTI for 11 years.
“We owe our renowned proton therapy breast program in large part to her,” said Dr. Okunieff. “In fact, she is considered a multi-disciplinary pioneer in this subfield and her work for our Breast Health Center contributed greatly to both Shands Jacksonville and Shands Gainesville’s endorsement by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers excellence.”
R. Charles Nichols, MD (left), a UFHPTI physician for 16 years, has been promoted to the rank of full Clinical Professor.
“An outstanding clinician, Dr. Nichols serves as our lead physician in five major areas of treatment: lung cancer, thoracic malignancies, gastrointestinal malignancies, bladder cancer, and non-prostate genitourinary malignancies,” said Dr. Okunieff. “His research also includes important work related to disparities in treatment for the uninsured.”
