Longtime Radiation Oncology Staff Member Retires

Merry Mac WatsonMerryMac Watson, Radiation Oncology Event Coordinator since 2005, officially retired June 7, 2019.

MerryMac (shown left with department chair Paul Okunieff, MD) was hired in June 2005 and her responsibilities included the coordination of various events as well as office moves/renovations for the department space.

Deeply involved in the UF, Gainesville, and Jacksonville communities, MerryMac was well-known for ensuring each event offered the best experience possible for everyone, no matter what task was before her.

MerryMac helped found, and subsequently organized, the Annual Play Golf. Fight Cancer.® Classic to benefit the proton research program at the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. She is, in fact, the only person who has ever convinced Urban Meyer to sign a football.

“I think that speaks to how fortunate we were to have her working on our behalf,” said one Radiation Oncology staff member. Congratulations, MerryMac!
